Mikella - Top Athlete Turned Model
Mikella, a former college track star, began her career at a prominent NYC agency but soon felt confined to working solely with athletic clients. Over the course of six months, she became an exceptional student, attending all of Katie’s movement classes, social media courses, and testing Zoom calls. Whenever there was an opportunity to learn, Mikella participated, even if it meant just listening in. Because Mikella played sports at a high level, being coachable was natural and normal for her and together we made progress at an accelerated rate!
We collaborated closely to enhance her portfolio, incorporating compelling athletic imagery because while Mikella wanted to expand outside of athletic clients you also don’t want to exclude the clients who love booking you the most! We also focused on diversifying her portfolio by strong fashion, beauty, and commercial fashion images to attract the brands she felt she was missing.
Working together week by week, Mikella invested in herself and career by scheduling and executing six high-profile test shoots, and she completely revamped her portfolio. As a result, she had a massive return on investment, not only secured her dream client, Free People, but she also went on to book other leading athletic brands like Athleta, Nike Fabletics, Lululemon, Under Armor and more. Moreover, Mikella successfully expanded her horizons beyond athletic brands, landing an Olaplex hair campaign and several commercial fashion repeat clients. She is now represented in Europe, where she is dedicated to pursuing her fashion aspirations! We couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and effort we put in collectivity to reach our goal of expanding Mikella’s career and client opportunities.
